HOW TO PAINT
WATERCOLOR WINDOW SPLASHES
A Primer by Nick Barber with Laural E. Kidder and Aina Barber

WHAT IS A WATERCOLOR WINDOW SPLASH?How to Paint Watercolor Window Splashes

A watercolor window splash is a specific type of sign advertising painted on storefront. You, the sign artist, design an ad message using large and dynamic lettering, shapes and accents, and then execute it with sparkling fluorescent watercolor paint.

The result is a bold and quick-to-read message across the glass – a watercolor window splash. The business gets a big ad that attracts drive-by traffic and can be tied to other advertising. Since the message is easily removed, you can sell new window ads for continuing income.

I’m Nick Barber, and I have specialized in the art of window splashes since 1979. Working as a team with my wife Aina, we have brought my art to international interest, receiving calls from across the US as well as Canada, England and South Africa.

Here’s what one reader said:

“Of all the books I have on many types of art subjects, this book covers all the bases. There is a lot of great information ... well put together ... easy to understand. I really like the drawings and photos of the layouts. After looking at the way you and your shop do the windows, it’s sure easy to spot bad workmanship that others are doing. With [the] prices of all kinds of seminars and other workshops, this book is worth the price. Thanks again.”
